And they're cool and available and addictive. The job is almost done for us!

Critics Turned Off by Frida Giannini’s New Commercial Gucci Collection

Critics had plenty to say about designer Frida Giannini's spring 2009 Gucci collection. But most of it wasn't exactly favorable. They say her work looks like something on the racks of Zara and isn't trend-setting, and her runway show is just designed to sell, sell, sell. The Wall Street Journal notes that while designers like Balenciaga's Nicolas Ghesquière send models down the runway accessory-less in order to draw focus to the clothes, Frida didn't hesitate to throw a bag, necklace, and fedora on one girl alone. Also:

Many of the suits in the show — skinny pants cropped above the ankle with well-tailored jackets in vibrant greens and blues — could easily hit the shelves of Zara and H&M months before they get to Gucci’s boutiques. At first glance, there was nothing much about either the fabrics or silhouettes of the clothes that would make them stand out from fast-fashion imitators.

Cathy Horyn of the New York Times felt similarly:

Giannini has become an expert not so much in expressing an idea as packaging it … But where was the element of surprise? And apart from the updated Jackie bags and chunky stone bracelets, how luxurious was it? The olive and khaki safari dresses, with zips and drawstrings, were cute and well-executed. But are they a look you expect from Gucci, or Liz Claiborne? Are they even a Look?

And WWD put it this way:

Gucci looks are all over Zara. The argument that they seem more appropriate to such a venue than to the upper echelons of luxury fashion hasn’t put a damper on sales of the real thing … [T]hese clothes bore all the exotica of a piñata party in Portsmouth. That, however, might be their genius. Ample anecdotal evidence suggests that most people aren’t interested in stylistic risk-taking, while many fall into the antisobriety camp.

Interesting. We thought buyers were looking for extra-special clothes that are worth spending on in this economy. But maybe not?

BRYLLE THE PHOTOGRAPHER

If you ever wondered what did the 20 something handsome male model get into lately...well, the answer is that he has become the assistant of the infamous fashion photographer Mario Testino. That's a lit bit" WOW"! We know Chris got a great sense of style but we didnt know that style would go as this far to actually reach the hardcore of the superficial underworld. Thinking about what ever happened to that asian assistant guy....Brylle must be feeling kinda cool this moment. Hope it all works out for his career, judging from what we peeked... The guy showed some talents. Check this out.

This photo, featuring Danish supermodel Mathias Lauridsen by Christian Brylle. Both hailing from Denmark, Homeboys clicked right in, havent see Mathias this clean cut, straighten up, freshing crisp in a long time. Only one test shot and it moved over all the Party-boy-pretty-face, do-as-told cliches in a blink. Who would thought...

Vogue Hommes Faints, Milan Screams, And Super Brand Took down Manhattan

Okay. I understand the choice of Jude Law made by Numero under the "high pressure" of their biggest ads client spells D-I-O-R, but Hugh Dancy for Vogue Hommes International? What is it ? A hollywood says hi to euroland? And they brought Mario Testino again! I have no problem with this, just like I have no problem with Annie.L will stick with VF's until pigs fly, but dose Mario really Have to shoot another VOGUE group's magazine.. ..I mean come on ! International ISSUE is a really really rare baby compare with all other fashion junkies, what are they doing right now is to make this looks like a collection of british vogue-MANLY or Us vogue-RANDOMLY. lol And they took down Carine the vogue paris. Laid yourself back and think of this with me, what is the last impress of Mr Dancy to you ? The Burberry Brit Perfume ! Isnt it ? I knew!! It was like ages ago while we were you know... wouldnt even buy things from Big B's. So we had a preview for fashion's sake and cross your fingers for what's coming up right next, cos that preview...aint going Anywhere new.

Talking about burberry perfume, they got a preppy groupie thing going on there.Photographer: David Sims Styling: Fabien Baron Art Director: Christopher Bailey Models: Alex Petyfer, Unk. AND they are pushing over the edge this time, as the matter of fact they pushed it too hard that they even CAN NOT see the edge. Londoner, High Profiler, Rockn Roller guna have to put this under their skin. The BEAT men is on and its worse than the women's, cos , as you can see, london streets guna fill up with all the 12 year old look alikes hanging around...Awww....
And Baaaack to New York! Fliped through over 100 fashion magazines we've noticed that this year the ad season playing a hard role in men's style. Gucci and Armani desperately ride on with hottest hollywood guys, James and Josh bling the money band ! While even Monocle magazine has a huge spread of Dior homme(We die...again..last time was for the best fashion cover nominees they got Gisele for VF, the limo thing, We die.) Gucci is all rocking and shacking with olaf the cutie on almost every single men's magazine they could find! Quoted from a friend: I have never seen Gucci this hard working before. They are going to Way too American.
You Go! Kids. You guessed it all out. The last board reports gave the result that USA is still running the highest marketing shares. And on formal suits, american guys are always the strong pursuer. Thinking about all the NORMAL frida goes this season, its not a big surprise to see everywhere and Gucci.

AnD there you have the words from MILAN.  So far So Bored. But I give it up. Cause we all know what will happen 6-8 weeks later, that all the hideous nightmare would turn into your latest flame just like that! Fashion and vision science are getting married very soon, and you all invited !

WHO IS THAT KID

8 months ago he was that kid mystery on the Paul Smith showAnd now the kid got a name and position.

The Name Gordon Bothe, Ranked NO.42 @ MDC's world top models. Why? havent you buy any fashion magazines lately? The CK Jeans' everywhere!

Direct from Sweden, he of the feline eyes has the industry tastemakers mesmerized. This former MOTW's turn in the current CK Jeans campaign definitely anoints him as a rising star. F/W08: CK Jeans with Steven Meisel, Lacoste with Terry Richardson, D&G with Mario Testino, Benetton with David Sims

TYLER RIGGS IS THE HERMES KID

The designers love this kid, I m not talking about some certain one, talking about a one hell of the fashion industry. He got an ID spread shocking pouring back pages down there, if you believe your own eyes you'd agree with me on the thing that its getting more and more interesting to guess who the hack will sneak in and steal out Brown the agent man eventually. Or who will be the first choice to replace Mathias for MDC'S editors health sick!

BACK HOME....OFFICIALLY

We are BACK! Been crazed all week, Tons of people to meet, tons of small talks/ dine outs/ Conferences/Parties/Pretending friends.... When I finally threw myself in a real pal's arms it was so late to say anything other than good night.
I brought merely 50 magazines home - all fashion things. It was such a joy and luxe to have a share of Camilla Morton's A YEAR IN HIGH HEELS, I was sadly late for this book, and it should be considered a sin. This sin catched me with an idea that only mad man are not planning on going to LONDON. So we are going to london, after Rome, after LA, after South Africa...Okay I havent really decided. lol
A whole week without fashion led me to the position of a style black hole, looks like the whole world just upside downed for me during the last one week. I FEEL SO LEFT OUT. Although I brought the newest, most important, most advanced things of Jewelry biz back in . But, Hey, I missed michael's SNL show! I heard it was a disaster as I expected but still, I'd love to have my own chance to laugh and point, damn!

BTW! Look at our boy Rocks on that Prada! Yeah babie still got the vibe! lol

MY SKIN CARE REGIME

Pore Minimizing Skin Refinisher
ESTEE LAUDER

ESTEE LAUDER

Plus SPA every week (seriously), pro skin care needed. Guerlain offers marvelous SPA system around the world. Choose the place and brand that makes you feel the most comfortable.

EYES and LIPS are taking differently from the skin care, so you need to be really care about this. Estee Lauder also has nice brighten eye creme. Some model friends told me that use brush on your lips could make pink and soft result.

SUN BLOCK is the most important! I m using Clarins Sunscreen Cream High Protection-30 SPF and After Sun Moisturizer Ultra-hydrating. Day and Night. You should always always always wearing sun blocker no matter sunshines here or there or rainy or winter or the world ends. Some movie stars also said that they wear sun-glasses not just to avoid camera lights/ hide overnight hangover eyes/pretend they are cooler than you, but also the main reason is Sun-glasses should be wore outdoors for your eyes' sick.

Pour yourself with full hydra body lotion every night after shower. Creme or Moisturizer or Milk, anything that you feel like to. Its more like a personal choice. Me had tried many brands most of them are purfume's. I like dior's cos it quickly gets into my skin and melted like a milk rain all down. Heard tons of good words about the Estee Lauder Moisturizer, models say that it dose magic. Guna try it next time.

8 Glasses of water/24 h is a must, with lemon, honey, aloe. Warm water in the morning  and winter, cold water in summer and away from meal. Water is the basic for your radiant, glowing skin. Without water none of anything would achieve.

WATER IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT FOR SKIN CARE FOR ANYONE.
I do hydra mask every day.

You are what you eat, daily choose has strong effect on your skin. So-All kinds of fruits, vegetables. You can drink coke, eat cheese cake. Just to know when to stop and when to enjoy.

Many thought that if you dont put on make-up then no remover needed. That come out correct if one's living in iceland, taking the purest breath and has a babie skin. None of us has any of that. So I seriously recommend Cleansing Oil, The oil not lotion. There are big differents. you could do it every night while catching up your fav shows. Time is no problem. Even up to 60mins, but I say 10mins and focus on the T-zone. Stock Remover Towelettes in the cars, in the bags, stock them heavy.

Everything nearest to your face and body should be soft, smooth, warm/clear cool and clean. Check your local water system. Hard/ soft water dose the different thing to your skin. To make it save, I'd use mineral water or boiled water for cleansing.

Some girls' been whispering how some certain cosmetic brands could offer great concealer, luminizer, or the product that could make your face LOOKS perfect. I have a word for you, for one thing, perfect make up has a basic. and that basic is your natural glow. Nothing can beat the flawless skin.

It is always about You and Your Body. Take it under your skin. You can see I gave lots of hydrant products in there. Thats becos my skin needs it. Listen only to your body and try at least 3 brands in normal system, it will work out for you to see.

No smoking, Less Drinking. Off to bed before 10'30 and get up before 8. Keep stomach clean one day a week, eat only apple or vege, get your body ready for the next busy week. Green tea or white tea seems to be very friendly but check it with the doctor before you get daily into it. Some of the tea might has negative effect to some people.

If you do it like this.  In 6 months no one will ever know you were from the most air-polluted city. If you lived in the least polluted city-you bitch-then 6 months later you'd be like star in the oscar event holding your gorgeous billionaire beau, in 12 months you will be the face of world's most wanted beauty campaign.

The Hottest Gift-Bag Swag This Week?

The most coveted and worn item at Fashion Week was, shockingly, gift-bag swag. But fancy gift-bag swag! The heavy-hitters attending Alexander Wang's show on Saturday got an extra item in their goody bag: a white tank top from his new collection, T by Alexander Wang, which is officially set to launch in the spring. While many of the fashion elite hardly glance at gift-bag offerings, the front-row attendees at Wang’s show have been sporting his top everywhere. In the last four days this white tank has been spotted on a slew of editors, buyers, and stylists. Alas, the rest of us plebeians will just have to wait four more months for our tops.

KIRSTEN DUNST DOES ‘HARPER’S BAZAAR’

Kirsten Dunst opens up about seeking treatment for depression at Utah’s Cirque Lodge in October’s Harper’s Bazaar, out September 23.
“When you spend your entire life as a child actress, being told where to go and where to stand, you’re performing constantly for people,” he says. “It definitely breeds the kind of person who’s dependent on other people’s approval. If I’d trusted myself and listened to myself all the times that I ignored myself, I would have been fine. But everyone has to learn their lesson, and now I’ve got it.”
She adds, “I don’t want to go into too much detail because I give a quote and the it’s blogged about for the rest of my life on the Internet.” But she does say, “I’m great.”
As for those rumours suggesting that she’s hooked up with to Justin Long? That’s “the funniest thing on planet Earth. I don’t know him from Adam. I met him once and he and his friend were kind enough to walk me home. I’ve never seen him since.”
But she would like to settle down someday. “I can’t wait to have kids one day. I want to have kids and a farm with lots of animals on a lake.”

REFRESHING

In love with Eddie Klint. Not because he's the face of Prada or because he's great to look at but because he's the most happy-go-lucky kid there is. In fact, all I've ever heard about him is how nice he is. And that's not just from his mates. Stylists, designers, photographers, they all say the same thing. And I'm happy to report that they're all right.

Eddie! Whats up?
Not much ,just chillin here in Copenhagen.
What have you been up to since shows?
I just got back from sailing for two weeks in Sweden.
Really? Like friends that had a boat and you just sailed for two weeks?
Y
a, one of my Dad's friends built a boat so we decided to take it for a spin.
How big?
Like 30 meters I guess.
So how many feet is that?
Like 100 ft. maybe?
Is it a sail boat?
Ya it was like an old Nazi fishing boat and he bought it in the 70's and has been working on it for 10 yrs. He's been sailing around the world, down to South America and the Caribbean.
Have you grown up being on boats?
I've always been sailing with my Dad. I love it.
Okay so I'm way too hungover this morning to sit and tell you how cute you are.
 (laughs)
So lets get a little history on your career thus far. So Jesper at Unique found you here in Copenhagen?
Ya, just right down the street here. One of my friends was opening a shop and Jesper happened to be there, so we met.
And how old were you?
18.
And your how old now?
21.
So you went from the store opening to Prada. And you've done quite a bit for them. Which was first?
Technically the fragrance. But the clothes came out before so the first thing that I was seen in was that.
And since, you've done the clothes twice exclusively (with Sasha.) You've done the phone campaign and your fragrance was just picked up for the third year. Were you at all aware how huge that is or has it taken you getting your feet wet to realize?
I still haven't. (laughs)
So are you at all phased by any of this fashion stuff?
Well, in some ways it has definitely changed my life but it was never something I thought or dreamed about. More importantly to me are my good friends and my family. I love sailing, I cook a lot and so fashion has just been something that's fun and that I can make money at and see the world.
Have you traveled a lot?
Ya, I've only ever based out of Copenhagen so I've never spent more than like 6 weeks anywhere and that was New York.
Do you like New York?
Oh I love it.
What are some of your other favorite cities?
London and Paris are cool.
Oh hey! Did I tell you one of your friends is my driver?
No, who?
This kid Louie? He's so funny.
Ya Louie, he's a cool guy.
So what's coming up for you?
I'm going to take some vacation this month in the North part of Denmark and then I'll actually be in New York for like 3 or 4 weeks.
Do you have friends here?
Quite a few.
And what do you like about New York?
I like that compared to Copenhagen it "never sleeps," there's always something going on and I just love the pace and energy of the city.
It's good like that right?
Well I sorta get the best of both worlds. I can chill and relax here in Copenhagen and then in New York it's the opposite of that.
Okay Mr.Klint, we're both pretty ragged out right now so lets end this because between last night and trying to manuever this friggin' keyboard I'm about to slap someone and since you're the closest person to me, I wouldn't wanna hurt that pretty face.
 (laughs)
I'll see you in New York.
I cant wait to go its going to be cool.
When is the last time you were there?
I went like two or three weeks ago, but as usual, it was like two days for work.
What were you doing?
Gap.
First time?
No I've done it a couple times.
Who shot it?
It was Michael Jansson.
Well that's refreshing. Finally a male model that actually knows the names of who he works with. So are you privy to photographers and stylists and who's shooting what and blah blah blah?
Like if I keep up with who's doing what? Or do I know peoples names?
Ya, like are you at all aware of the business or do you pretty much just get your details and get on a plane?
Ya, that.
That's funny.

WERE YOU THERE?

Olympic gold medalists Michael Phelps, Natalie Coughlin, and Ryan Lochte, ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange, Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, in New York. Wall Street edged lower as investors awaited readings on pending home sales and wholesale trade and as oil prices extended their decline.

FASHION WEEK DAY 3

Funny thing is how people are talking about the boy's department...."Public image worldwide went down,Chris Forberg is spending Fashion Week at the US Open. Kevin Apana is now with Wilhelmina NY."
If I really really Really have to say Anything about this, then my word is saved in here : PIW was formulated by a buncha investors who are practically fashion outsiders, you do things like that, you see the closer goes. This is not the first time. Modeling biz has been a big shacking-around all the time, no surprise. And Yes IMG is still running.

Right Under Their Nose

Jack Spade a creé une édition limitée du gant moustache en l'honneur de l'arrivée de Colette à NYC. Le gant représente d'un côté une moustache Américaine et de l'autre une moustache à la Française. Mettez votre index sous le nez et amusez-vous bien!

Cindy McCain's $300,000 Outfit

One of the persistent memes in the Republican line of attack against Barack Obama is the notion that he is an elitist, whereas the G.O.P. represent real working Americans like Levi “F-in’ Redneck” Johnston.
It caught our attention, then, when First Lady Laura Bush and would-be First Lady Cindy McCain took the stage Tuesday night wearing some rather fancy designer clothes. So we asked our fashion department to price out their outfits.

Laura Bush
Oscar de la Renta suit: $2,500
Stuart Weitzman heels: $325
Pearl stud earrings: $600–$1,500
Total: Between $3,425 and $4,325

Cindy McCain
Oscar de la Renta dress: $3,000
Chanel J12 White Ceramic Watch: $4,500
Three-carat diamond earrings: $280,000
Four-strand pearl necklace: $11,000–$25,000
Shoes, designer unknown: $600
Total: Between $299,100 and $313,100

Wow! No wonder McCain has so many houses: his wife has the price of a Scottsdale split-level hanging from her ears.
(All prices except Laura’s shoes and Cindy’s watch are estimates, and the jewelry prices are based on the assumption that the pieces are real.)

Convention Countdown

Top 10 things I learned about conventions -- at least Democratic ones.

1. The phrase "Don't you know who I am?" works wonders for accessing backstage and after-parties because, in reality, no one knows who anyone is.

2. Although the convention is a national stage, local politics still run the show. State delegates care a lot more about who will run next for state legislator than they do about social security.

3. The media will flock to wherever they see an old person and a young person dancing together in the aisles. It's golden material.

4. The young staffers who pass out the credentials have the most power in American politics for one week at least. While Jim Roosevelt (chairman of the party's Rules Committee and FDR's grandson) wandered the convention hall looking for a pass for his wife, 21-year-olds were trading backstage passes like baseball cards.

5. The proximity and accessibility of local celebrities far outshine those speaking on stage and on television. When 86-year-old former Senator George McGovern, the 1972 presidential nominee, walked through the Massachusetts delegation on Thursday evening, not even Barack Obama could hold their attention.

6. The Kennedy men are just as handsome and charming as they're reputed to be.

7. People actually pose -- sometimes even following stage directions from photographers -- for those heartfelt and thoughtful pictures that are splashed on the front pages of newspapers.

8. Wolf Blitzer is short.

9. The whips (the young volunteers who hand out the signs and tell the audience when to hold them up) might actually whip you with a sign if you don't take one.

10. Men in politics wink more naturally and more frequently than any other category of man.

Posh’s New Do Looks Awfully Familiar

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

It's not unusual for people to reinvent themselves during Fashion Week. (See Jacquetta Wheeler's platinum locks and Leighton Meester's newly refreshed look.) But when Posh made an entrance at Marc Jacobs last night, boy did phones start ringing. It's not that we haven't seen this look before — everyone from Halle Berry to Michelle Williams have gone pixie cute. But for some reason, Posh evokes more of a Rosemary's Baby vibe than her short-hair counterparts did. Maybe it's just her wily ways. Of course, the big question is, can Posh pull this look off? Normally, we'd say, without a doubt. It's Victoria freakin' Beckham! She can do whatever she wants! But we miss her old coif. And speaking from experience, Vicky, that's one bitch of a cut to grow out. But hey, if Halle and Mia survived, you can too, right?

Another Season, Another Stunner From Marc

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

It must get rather boring reading about fashion in New York but, I’m sorry, here it is again: Marc Jacobs rules this town. While other, younger designers spent today involved in a conversation Jacobs began eight months ago (full pants, wide shoulders, neutral palettes), Jacobs blasted forward with a collection that was unerringly focused, dynamic, and jam-packed with great ideas.
The accompaniment to the show was all Gershwin bombast, and there was much of the American in Paris about the slim, consistently waisted silhouettes — but that was just where it all began. No one can mix like Marc Jacobs can mix: That American in Paris found her way to Montparnasse via the Masai, with shined up kente cloth, thick armfuls of bangles, and cleanly tied head scarves. And then came signature Seattle plaids, demonstrating how the substitution of one small element of a look (a Lurex-trimmed flannel singlet, for example) can switch the mood of a thing entirely. Fashion is, in Jacobs’s world, indeed about nuance, even as it is bright, happy-making, and completely optimistic.

Moreover, he’s cut way down on the drama: For the second season in a row, the show started quite nearly on time: No more three-hour wait times spent gawking at odd collections of the famous and greasy-haired. These days, Jacobs means business.

After all those rich, rich fabrics, the density of influence, the careful layering of ideas, Jacobs closed the show with three long, simple jersey dresses. It would not surprise us if those three dresses served as the opening to whatever it is we’ll be discussing next.

At Calvin Klein’s Mind-blowing High Line Party

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

There are some days when we can't believe we have to drag ourselves to another fashion show, and there are others when we can't believe we have the privilege to even stick our toes in this phenomenal world. Last night, Calvin Klein's 40th-anniversary celebration on the actual freakin' High Line gave us enough moments of childlike wonderment to last for the next ten seasons.

Imagine an entire museumlike building, designed by architect John Pawson and artist James Turrell, going up in two weeks. A dramatic set of stairs set in the middle of a gargantuan white room take you to a balcony, and that balcony to a catwalk that leads you to the High Line. There, you're in a what looks like a gently curving mile-long garden planted with reeds and 3,000 white roses, each de-thorned and in a little bulb of water so you can take it home at the end of the night. Partygoers last night included Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry, CK muse Eva Mendes, Naomi Watts, Claire Danes, and eventually most of the ladies of Entourage and Lipstick Jungle, tottering on gravel in towering high heels.

Rosario Dawson was breathless. She took a call from a friend whose apartment overlooked the festivities. "He told me he can smell the roses from his apartment," she said. "I knew they were erecting this, but I didn't know it was going to be this fabulous," Molly Sims told us. We asked her if she ever gets sick of the fashion world. "No," she said. "You want to get cynical and then you're like, 'Wait. When does this ever happen?' And this, they built it out! You get tired, you get cynical. And then you have to remember that people would kill to be here."

Why Is This Woman Smiling? Gossip Time

The Fug Girls suggested that Mary-Kate Olsen was flashing a giant grin at Rock & Republic because she's, ahem, "getting laid." Our spy saw MK's versatile smile, too. While waiting backstage with Jessica Szohr, a waiter bumped into Mary-Kate and spilled an entire glass of champagne down the front of her outfit. "She was so sweet about it," said the spy. "The waiter couldn't stop apologizing, and she was just like, 'Seriously, it's okay. I'm wearing black.'" The spy did say that after the ten thousandth apology, she gave the waiter her "Go. Away. Now. Please." grin. But it was a grin, nonetheless!

After the Storm: Tory Burch Survived Deluge by Going Barefoot

Though Gap's spring presentation this morning was light and cheery, we were still haunted by memories of last night's Tropical Storm Hanna. Patrick Robinson was toiling away in a windowless room last night when the storm hit. "Was there a hurricane?" he laughed. "I didn't even notice." Photographer Scott Schuman, better known as the Sartorialist, made his assistant tote around umbrellas so they could keep taking fashionista-on-the-street portraits. "I just shot and tried to keep the camera dry," Schuman said. "I had an excuse, if I didn't have enough pictures for Style.com — 'It's raining!' But I think I came up with some pretty good stuff. I like that kind of crazy combination of people still dressed, you know, running in the rain." Tory Burch did the unthinkable when she was stranded in the downpour: She took off her shoes and walked home barefoot, "which I never, ever do," she blurted out quickly.

ENTOURAGE SEASON 5 HBO PREMIERE

Our favorite Hollywood boys are BACK ! HBO big hit series ENTOURAGE aired 7th SEP, stars all smiled and chattie at the premiere press call.
We have said it like a million times, Entourage is Grapes most loving-lovey-loved show, we adore every single character in there, all of them! So evil and cruel and real and sinfully delightful. Besides AQUA MAN, we are pretty sure that Ari will be his darn fuggin' handful in this season's rocking roll lol!
